Another Day / Aljona

ALJONA tells a story about an office employee from Saint-
Petersburg. We meet her on her 23rd birthday. Aljona is lesbian and would like best to spend this day with her new love. But first she has to cope with her daily routine. Traditional flowers and champagne await her at work in the morning along with her male colleagues that are as always eager to harass her. Her female colleagues remind her it is about time to get married. And later on the designer in her hip studio where Aljona poses and of course her mother who already started looking for a proper son-in-law – they all tell the same. Aljona plays a role of a “normal” person for them, with standard desires and needs as society requires. Finally she is surrounded by people who saying “pidori” – “faggots” hatefully while eating their lunch at the canteen and who see a woman as a man’s maid. However Aljona she wants to end this hide and seek.

Julia Grauberger

Julia Grauberger was born 1981 in Saint-Petersburg, 1996 she emigrated with her family to Germany. She studied animation at the film university Babelsberg in Potsdam. For her films she works with a mixture of feature film, documentary and animation. Julia Grauberger is also known as a front woman of the band “Lila von Grau” and writes soundtracks for films. She lives and works in Berlin.

Philipp Meise

Philipp Meise was born 1981 in Berlin. In his younger years he gained experience in graphic design and photography and then subsequently studied cinematography at the University of Film and Television “Konrad Wolf” in Potsdam-Babelsberg. He lives and works in Berlin as DOP for documentary and feature films. During his studies his main focus was on socially conscious films that were looking for a specific relation to a cinematic theme.
